Youth 4 Peace 0 Reply

youth 4 peace

The United Nations Resolution 2250 on Youth, Peace and Security[1], adopted by the Security Council on 9 December 2015, recognizes the role young people play in the keeping and promoting international peace and security, key to the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals. In this framework, dialogue and exchange are key vehicles for the success of peace.

The engagement of youth in intercultural dialogue and practices of exchange, networking, and active participation is crucial for the prevention and resolution of conflict. Young people have wonderful creative skills and capacities to develop bridges based on the commons, use tools to promote dialogue and to engage in social.

Intercultural dialogue and youth are at the heart of Dialogue Caf√©¬īs mission, hence we are proposing the celebration of an international session of youth for peace to be celebrated in the framework of Dialog Caravan, an initiative developed by our partners of Dialogue Caf√© Serbia, namely the United Nations Associations in Serbia and the Centar Duga in Novi Pazar.

Youth people and youth organisations will be invited to share how best to promote intercultural dialogue, connections, understanding in order to bring our societies more peaceful and prevent conflicts. Experts and stakeholders will be invited to present relevant tools such as the Guiding Principles on Young People’s Participation in Peacebuilding[2], recently launched by United Nations, Search for Common Ground, and myriad nongovernmental organizations with the aim of guiding key stakeholders on meaningful youth engagement in conflict or transition settings and as recognition to the positive role young people can place in peace building scenarios.

The session will take place on 11 October 2019, from 15 to 17h (London time). Dialogue Cafe members participating in the session are DC Belgrade, DC Novi Pazar and DC Lisbon.

Participation is free and open.
