Circular Economy & Food 2 2
Climate change is with us and adopting new sustainable living systems is not a choice anymore. Change must happen and urgently, as we have only a dozen of years to limit climate change catastrophe on the basis of UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) last report released in October 2018.
Changing the economy system from a linear model of production based on ‘take, make, dispose’ to circular models relying on system-wide innovation, and redefining products and services to design waste out, while minimising negative impacts, can become a greater contribution to regeneration and restoration, as well as brings and opportunity to reach a more sustainable and innovative economy bringing benefits for businesses, industry, citizens and the planet.
Dialogue CafĂ© Association assumes as a priority the need of fighting climate change and promoting sustainable societies, by integrating in its programme of activities a cycle of sessions focused circular economy, sustainable cities, green lifestyles and some of the main challenges we need to confront nowadays (water, plastics, fashion industry, among others) with the aim of sharing knowledge and good practices, promoting networking and raising awareness. The cycle is called: “Climate Change and Sustainable Societies: Think Green, Act Green”.
In this framework, a first session focused of circular economy and food will be organised with the aim of mobilising minds and promoting mutual learning by sharing knowledge and good practices implemented at the local level in this field. Initiatives promoting zero waste, raising awareness and citizen´s ecologic minds, domestic and local sourcing among other strategies.
This session, which will be held on 29 January from 15h to 17h London time, will provide a follow up of previous sessions organised in this field in 2018: Circular Economy in Brazil and Portugal and Innovation & Circular Economy for Crafts Makers. Dialogue Cafés participating are: Belgrade, Cidade de Praia, Evora, Lisbon and Rio de Janeiro.
