20190328_ Its time for gender equality

On 1 January 2016, the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development — adopted by world leaders in September 2015 at an historic UN Summit — officially came into force. Over the next fifteen years, with these new Goals that universally apply to all, countries will mobilise efforts to end all forms of poverty, fight inequalities and tackle climate change, while ensuring that no one is left behind. With this purpose, Dialogue Café Association is organising a cycle of debates focused on the SDGs and 2030 Agenda in order to contribute to its achievement and raising awareness. Sessions focused on Education, Gender Equality and Climate Change among other topics will be organised under this thematic umbrella.

In the framework of the International Women’s Day 2019, a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, Dialogue CafĂ© would like to address one of the major challenges of the XXI century, the SDG5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls, by joining the Women´s Day Campaign #BalanceforBetter, hence dedicating a session to celebrate collective action working hard for gender equality, which is an essential element for economies and communities to thrive at all levels: political, economic, social, and cultural.

Join this session and share successful experiences and stories on some of the targets related to SDG5 such as fighting violence against all women and girls, promoting women´s participation and leadership at all levels of decision making, ensuring equal rights to economic resources, and enhancing the use of enabling technology for women´s empowerment.

Dialogue Café will invite representatives of social groups, communities, local authorities, civil society organisations, experts, women´s organisations and international organisations to discuss about how best we can truly make a positive difference for women everywhere.

This session, which will be held on 28 March from 15h30 to 17h London time.
